Hundred Goals’ Blog Carnival #1
February 25, 2010 6 Comments
Being a new blogger is tough.
The hardest part isn’t finding a topic you are passionate to write about or even writing insightful, quality articles. The hardest part is getting people to read it and join in on the conversation.
I want to change that, and this Blog Carnival is my attempt to spread the word about upcoming blogs. Here is how it will work, and it depends on you to make this Carnival a huge success.
1) Post your “Elevator Speech” about your blog in the Comment Section. Let everyone know a little bit about yourself and what topics you write about on your blog.
2) Post a link to your blog at the end of your comment.
3) Post a link to the Blog Carnival on your blog and promote the Carnival as much, or as little, as you like. Have a Facebook account? Share a link with your friends.
It is that simple, and with everyone working together, this could be a great chance for you to spread your message and share your blog with the world. I can’t do this on my own and from here, it is up to you!
If you don’t have a blog, I encourage you to check out the comments and visit some new & upcoming blogs!!!
Cheers!

Hello everyone! My name is Dave Ozment and I blog. I share my muse at a site called DoYouDaveRamsey.com.
As the name suggests, my roots are in personal finance but I’ve expanded to spend time sharing my thoughts and ideas on goal setting and personal accountability. The three ideas are related and I generally lend my voice to those types of topics.
While blogging I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to meet new folks as much (or more) as I’ve enjoyed sharing my ideas. I especially enjoy the comments and discussions some of my articles have yielded. I’d love to expand this portion of my venture.
Away from the computer, I have some diverse hobbies. I enjoy motorcycle riding, gardening, college football, reading, and time with family and friends.
I hope you’ll come check out my site. I commit to subscribing to the comments here and then visiting each site that adds to the discussion. I’ll also extend an open invitation for blogroll links and guest posts assuming our messages are aligned. Simply reach out to me with your thoughts.
Here is a link to my landing a page and I encourage you to drop by and say hello.

Steven, thanks for this great opportunity to share about our blogs and hopefully built a community or network of smaller and upcoming sites. I’m convinced that growing a site by oneself is a tough challenge but multiple sites cross promoting casts a larger net and helps propel everyone forward. We’ve talked about different projects this year… perhaps you’ve already engaged one great idea that I want to be a part of.
Thanks!
Dave Ozment
Hey Steven,
Thanks for the idea and the invitation. You’re a really innovative guy, and I love your positive vibe — something I could use more of.
I am active duty military but being sent full time in NYC to earn an MBA. I blog about what I call the “Economic Grid.” MANY people have described what the grid is, but my bend is how to get off of it. My blog is http://freedomguerrilla.com and has been an amazing experience of interaction and growth.
Although sometimes controversial (as you’ll occasionally see in the comments sections), there are many passionate followers who provide feedback that is usually better than the post itself. A friend of mine was reading it recently, and commented “these are some smart motherf—–.”
I’ve sponsored a project called Operation Reverse Leverage that is essentially a collaboration of subscribers attempting to become debt free or significantly deleveraged in 10 months. Deadline for application is March 1, 2010. I will reward the person paying the most debt with an ounce of gold from my own private stash.
Thanks again, Steven. You’re a really great guy, and if you ever came to New York City we could probably knock about 30 of those items off your list in a weekend.

Hi Steve and everyone in the Hundred Goals Community:
My name is Erin Lack and I am fairly new to the blogging community. I have tried in the past to start a blog, to no avail, but this past January I started a blog called “Lunacy of the Literary Mind”. I never really thought about if blogging would be something I could get into until I started reading Hundred Goals. Not only has Steven inspired me in my financial well being, but he has helped me to evaluate my life.
My blog started out as a blog where I was going to share information about books, articles, etc with the readers of the world out there. While reading is one of my favorite things to do in life, I have also decided to use my blog to connect to people on a more personal level as well. I currently do not have any followers (as my blog is still considered a newbie), but I am actively following a couple other blogs, including this one as well to learn about others and spread the word of my own blog. People are able to reach my blog at http://lunacyoftheliterarymind.blogspot.com/
As always, any advice about what I could do to improve my blog would be greatly appreciated, as I am still learning. I think the idea of a Blog Carnival is wonderful and will shine some light on some lesser known blogs.
I do want to let people know that I do have a life outside of blogging as well: I love to read and am trying to get more into exercise as well. I deal with daily migraines, which have continued to get worse, so many of the activities that I love to do, such as reading, and going on the computer have become quite a challenge for me. I am hoping to use my blog to reach people who might be going through similar situations as well and see if we can work together to eradicate these dreaded migraines.
Thanks for allowing me to sort of self plug my blog. I don’t really do that very often. By the way, keep up the amazing work that you are doing on Hundred Goals — it has been an inspiration to me and many others as well.
Thanks! It’s a great idea!
I am a new blogger ~ doing this as a fun hobby. My purpose is… nothing in particular. I write about everyday things I experience, from my point of view. The topics I posted so far are Top Gear, My $50 Wedding, On Frugality, and Spring Sport. I’m planning on posting one post a day. Some of my topics next week include a simple recipe, how I saved some money, and funny kids stuff.
Thanks Steven!
I started Budgeting in the Fun Stuff since I always wanted to hear about the next step…what do you do after you’re financially stable? How do you allow yourself to have some fun?
My husband and I are in that stage. My blog is an open financial diary of our lives – monthly net worths, our budget, and Friday postings on fun things we either do or plan to do with our small-average “fun” budget.
I’m posting every Monday-Friday morning and throw in random thoughts as they pop up. I aim for my postings to be entertaining, informative, and as real as possible – “names have been changed to protect the innocent” and to prevent identity theft…lol.
Take a look and feel free to participate! I’m only blogging for the fun of it and it’s only as fun as the people who comment, right?
Thanks for taking a look!
Hi Steven,
Thanks for sharing this great opportunity with new bloggers (it looks like I’m a little late to the game, but hey, better late than never!).
My name is Geoff and I’m the Car Negotiation Coach bloggin’ over at http://blog.findthebestcarprice.com
I’m a consumer advocate (and new blogger) out to provide people with financial advice on car purchases. After many car purchases for myself, friends and family, and a whole lot of research, I’ve come up with some practical strategies that I thought needed to be shared with the public. The blog (and sister website) is focused on negotiation strategy, but there is advice about everything that goes into a car purchase including financing, trade-in, insurance, and warranty. I’ve also put together some easy to use (and free) email negotiation templates.
I’m not trying to sell anything, I just believe there should be more transparency and regulation in the car industry. Both manufacturers and dealers are deceptive and use so many misleading tactics to confuse car buyers it’s just not fair. I personally don’t know how the average joe can buy a car without being swindled a little. So I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out how to educate regular people and help them get a fair deal. If anyone has any comments or questions, feel free to comment on any post!
By the way, I’m very open to guest posting here or for other folks who stumble across this post. Just drop me a line at support [AT] findthebestcarprice.com
Thanks again Steven!
