You should start before you finish, so you can go right away. If I had it to do over again, I’d start my application about a year before graduation. If you need any advice (or moral support) I’d be more than happy to assist!

It’s a sacrifice to join, no question, but absolutely worth the experience. It will be hard for me to leave behind my friends and family (and especially my gf of 5 years) but we’ll get through it. Thankfully she supports my decision, even if she has to sacrifice as well.

Wow, I didn’t realize it would take so long! I still haven’t finished my bachelor’s degree which I guess buys me a little extra time. Thanks for the advice!

actually this summer I will be in the US, more so in Wisconsin for a couple of days – staying with friends in Reedsburg and Mauston, and visiting the Dells where I’ve worked for 3 summers…the address is saved, so the postcards will fly towards you :)

This post is a perfect one for me. I used to live very much within my means, until I met my boyfriend who doesn’t have the best financial past, some of it not being his fault. However, he kept asking me to do things that I ordinarily wouldn’t have done, but to make him happy, I did. I’ve realized that what I really want to do is travel & see other cultures. I’ve wanted to do his for a while, but never had the money. I’ve decided that I’m going to live the life that I want one way or another. I’m 31 & I’ve always been living for someone else or just getting through the day, but not enjoying it. Thank you for waking me up!

It’s an incredibly long and sometimes frustrating application process…I suggest getting started right now! :) Haha! Seriously, though, since starting my application to the time of departure will be nearly two years. If it’s something you’re serious about, or even thinking hard about doing, start your application. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to reconsider, and you’ll be well on your way if you decide it’s what you want to do. It’s not something that can happen overnight.

The “don’t pay attention to other people” is my favorite on your list. It’s so true and I catch myself doing this ALL the time. Must stop & just be happy with what I’M doing. Great post!
